RELIEF DUE TO COVID-19 EMERGENCY
COVID-19 is a significant threat to the health of the community, and the city is working to ensure the needs of residents, business owners, employees and others continue to be met during this stressful time. Health experts identify frequent hand washing as a critical step in the fight to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and the city wants to ensure that the community is able to take the proper measures to protect themselves.
The city recognizes there is uncertainty at this time and realizes that some utility customers may be worried about paying their water bill. Therefore, in line with Governor Inslee’s request of March 18, water service is not being shut off for residential customers’ inability to pay during the COVID-19 emergency. The action remains in effect under the state’s most recent proclamations addressing the pandemic. No late fees or penalties will apply during this time.
We encourage customers to continue to make their utility payments or to call Utility Billing at 425-744-6214 to make payment arrangements if they are unable to pay at this time.
Utility Customer COVID-19 Support Programs (July 31, 2020)
Governor Inslee recently issued the latest version of Proclamation 20-23, pertaining to Utility Ratepayer Assistance and Preservation of Essential Services.
The city is committed to keeping our customers connected to essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic emergency. If you are experiencing hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you may be eligible for support, including long-term payment arrangements or bill assistance. This Proclamation does not relieve customers from the obligation to pay for utility services.
Payment arrangements are available to assist residents with their city utility bills, and low-income residents can apply for discounts. Applications are available by selecting the Low Income Exemption and/or Senior Discount Application Form (PDF) and Proof of Income Requirements.
Applications are also available by an email request to Utility Billing, or by calling the Utility Department at 425-744-6214.
