Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commission

Overview

The City of Mountlake Terrace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Commission was created in August of 2020.

The DEI Commission will consist of seven (7) members with a mission of promoting and embracing diversity through action, education, and guidance. The Commission seeks to foster an understanding that includes, accepts, respects and appreciates each individual member of our community.

Meeting dates and times will be determined by the Commission following its appointment. It is anticipated the Commission will meet a minimum of once a month.

Being a new Commission, the initial terms will be staggered, with subsequent appointments having a term of three years. Therefore, three (3) of the initial terms will expire on June 30, 2022 and four (4) of the initial terms will expire
on June 30, 2023.

Selection Process

The application period closed on August 24 and interviews are now being conducted.  The City Council is tentatively scheduled to appoint the new Commission at their September 21 meeting that begins at 7:00 p.m.
